Picture yourself walking down the street with your iPod on shuffle, and you're soaking up the warm, sunny, spring day. That perfect song begins to play and makes you stop, look around, and feel alive. From the first riff off Cosmonaut’s new EP Radio Silence, you begin to have an extra kick in your step.

Cosmonaut is an indie-rock band hailing from New York City and is composed of Jack Manley on guitar/vocals, Daniel Quinn on guitar, Brendan Picone on bass, and Tom McIntyre on drums. Although relatively new to the scene, this band is wasting no time, with an EP Hurry Up already under their belt and Radio Silence on the way for public release. The influences of Tokyo Police Club and Weezer are portrayed in their up-beat guitar rhythms that are infused with electric distortion. Manley's vocals

emulates the classic, megaphone scratch of The Stroke’s Julian Casablanca, with an even harder punch.

Both songs on this EP make you want to get out of your seat and dance, which makes me believe that a live show from these boys would leave you feeling the adrenaline of dancing and singing all night long. The first song from the EP “Radio Silence” puts you in a reflective, dream-like state. The light pop feel is combined with textured drums, guitar riffs, and steady bass that makes you feel weightless. During the chorus, the steady bass pulls you back down and creates an atmosphere to absorb Manley's lyrics to the fullest ability.

From the first beat of “Subterranean Mercenary” you feel alive. Everything fuses together into that perfect, catchy, gets-stuck-in-your-head indie pop song. The song stays at a constant fast, lively pace and the distorted guitar cuts through to make an everlasting impression.

I have nothing but praise for this EP and I highly recommended anyone wanting a fresh, new sound to check it out. With an ever changing music scene, these four boys will be blooming for years to come. Check out their Website and listen to their streaming songs on Bandcamp and Soundcloud for further enjoyment!
