Lagwagon - Hang

Dan Trinkler | October 21, 2014

Can you believe Resolve was released nine years ago? Joey Cape and the boys have kept us satiated with their grueling touring schedule and infinite sideprojects, but they’re back to bring the thunder with Hang.  This album showcases the darker side of Lagwagon, both lyrically and musically.  Don’t be scared, though, you’re going to love it.

Two tracks have already been released to shed some light on what people can expect from Hang.  “Burden of Proof” is a softer song that sounds like it was plucked from Joey’s solo work, while “Reign” gives you that upbeat tempo and quick licks that whet

the appetite of punk rockers everywhere.  Lagwagon has successfully outlined the spectrum of sounds and speed that this album showcases. All other tracks will fall in between these two.

“One More Song” is going to rip your heart out of your chest and stomp it out on the floor. This song pays homage to the late, great Tony Sly, and if you ever got the chance to see Joey and Tony play a show together, you’d know how much Tony’s passing has affected the scene and Lagwagon possibly more than anyone. The song is titled after a closing chant from Tony’s “Liver Let Die,” and when you hear Joey sing “Tony” towards the end of the song, you’ll feel like you’ve lost your best friend. This is the golden track and the one every Lagwagon/No Use For A Name fan has been waiting for to get some sense of closure from Tony’s passing.

This entire album is going to reverberate “inside your head,” much like the chant in “In Your Wake.” This track fluctuates from head-nod intensity to serious aggression and is sure to get your blood pumping.

These new tracks complement the Lagwagon catalog perfectly and will provide a new depth to their shows.  Make sure you catch them on tour with Swingin’ Utters 11/6-12/11 and rock out to both bands’ new jams!
