The Holding Words Back EP by Sulene is full of punk, rock, and pop punk, but it only holds four songs. Don’t worry, they are all very diverse and keep the listener wanting more.

“Holding Words Back” is a single, exact minute of instrumental noise as an intro to the album. It’s kind of boring in my opinion since it lulls and doesn’t seem to have any substance, but I also feel the same about EP’s, so… Fuck logic.

Things jump right in with “Purgatory,” which is absolutely my favorite. Sulene is very inspired by Paramore, and you get a sense of their album All We Know Is Falling within this song. If you like that album, you’ll love “Purgatory!”

“Worst Version Of Me” is the same style from "Purgatory,” and it has really well written lyrics. This is an excellent song, and it has amazing potential to be a fan favorite.

"Lovers Lost" is deep, and relaxing in a way, more so than the others. She really channels Hayley Williams vocals. It builds and builds as the song goes on, and the lyrics “Cause it’s my turn now/ I’m gonna disappoint you/ Yes I’m leaving you/ I lost the will for ‘I do’ / If I don’t go now/ It may kill me,” make this song an excellent choice for dealing with depressing moments.

This EP is a must for your collection of music, and it has an amazing potential for the big leagues! Even though I didn't like the intro and I judged the EP at first because of it, I was quickly proved wrong and became a Sulene fan. As a final thought, I'll remark: IT'S A MUST!

Sulene isn't Holding Words Back...
