Velafire - Voids

Dan Trinkler | March 14, 2015

Lyrically, “Voids” takes it to a place that hasn’t been seen since Good Charlotte was at the top of the charts, and something that’s been lost in the shuffle in the post-hardcore scene.  With lines like “You’re half the man that i’ve become/My hands are strong though you’re far from gone/Fake dads with fake plans that run away,” you begin to connect with this band on a personal level.  Instead of listening to songs about a band’s awesome hometown and friends, this band lets you in and makes you more than fan, it makes you a friend.

Velafire is bringing a refreshing change of pace and is ready to light up the scene!

Velafire...Velafire...Velafire...

Keep repeating it because you’re going to want to remember this name.  This new band from Spokane, Washington is turning up the heat on the post-hardcore genre.   This track is tightly-constructed from start to finish.  It echoes some semblance of Funeral for a Friend, Issues, and even tasting like a couple hints of Rise Against. The drums are super quick and tight, the guitars cover a range which pairs fast preciseness with fat and jaunty passages, and the vocals bleed passion.  It’s mellow, it’s brutal, and it’s everything you want to hear in a track from this genre.
