Wolves At Bay - When I'm Dead
Ashlee Castellano | October 8, 2014
Wolves at Bay’s new EP, When I’m Dead, will be sure to make the creatures in your heart come to life. Featured on this EP is “Tried to Fix”, “Nothing Will Work” and “Sincerely, Your Ex-Lover,” or in short, your 3 new favorite tunes. If you have a soft spot for Sleeping With Sirens, then you’ll be sure to have a hard-on for Wolves at Bay. I mean who doesn’t love punk songs that actually have meaning to them?
Drumroll, please! “Tried To Fix” starts off the EP with a sweet drum beat followed by vocals that will be sure to hit you right where it hurts. Ignore the pain and take it to the moshpit that’s sure to be starting
as you listen to this song. Don’t worry, it’s just a side effect, however I’m not sure what to say about your grandmother headbanging along as well.
The irony in the next song title, “Nothing Will Work,” pains even the strongest men because after listening to it seems as if everything in your life’s working again. It’s rare for songs like this one to make anyone feel good. Songs like these are supposed to surround you in nothingness and help you forget about everything for a while. However, it seems as if Wolves At Bay made everything better once again with just a few strings, some vocal chords and two wooden sticks. Even God thanks Wolves At Bay for this song, no lie.
Last, and certainly not least is “Sincerely, Your Ex-Lover.” Just reading the song title gives you the understanding of what atmosphere will fill the air as this song sneaks out the speakers. Throughout the duration of the song, you’ll feel a range of emotions fill your entire being as the tune speeds up and slows down. But don’t worry, as you’re feeling all those disgusting emotions, Wolves At Bay will be by your side to comfort you through it all.
As my thoughts on this release come to an end,, it’s time for you to pick up their new EP (as well as learn all its lyrics) on their Bandcamp! Wolves At Bay is letting you decide how much or how little you want to pay. So go ahead, give a dollar, or give your whole life savings! Otherwise go catch them on stage in North Haven, CT on November 1st!
