created, “Raise Them Bones.” The chorus, “So if you’re sittin’ up/holding your life’s work in your hands/and they’re saying give it up/every hare-brained scheming plan” is repeated twice; it’s about 2/3 of this song. Let these lines kick you in the ass as hard as they were written to, and make sure nothing and nobody get in the way of your dreams. This track was the perfect way to open up the EP.
“I’d Rather Be Sleeping” is the catchy sleeper song on Dogged – pun intended. I didn’t think it stood out until I found myself singing it and tapping my feet at random times of the day. The alliteration grabs you when Ben sings, “I’ll be shooting shit with Mephistopheles,” and of course you find yourself sounding out Mephistopheles so you can Google who the hell it is later that day (let me save you some time, he’s a demon from German folklore).
There’s nothing more fulfilling than an EP that can satisfy you for a longer time span than an LP (I’m looking at you, Senses Fail), and that’s exactly what you can expect from Dogged. You, Me, and Everyone We Know is ready to break through the threshold of big time fame as they were so close to doing in 2011.
You, Me, and Everyone We Know is back with their Say Anything-esque style to fill your head with catchy songs until your smile falls off of your face. Ben Liebsch is sober, has his head on straight, and is back with his bandmates to release their latest EP, Dogged, with South X Sea Records. Prepare yourself for a bunch of grooving and giggling along to references to biting fingernails, trying to stay in bed a little longer and other normal things that only YMAEWK can turn into something awesome.
